Installation C6H12O is a simulation that makes our absurd relationship with nature seem real. The industrial setting of the space might feel threatening at first, but then again, the shadows cast by the machines create a meditative atmosphere.
The space is a speculative view of the future. Green vegetation is mainly presented by the plastic turf and by the relaxing smell of fresh cut grass, which generates from the chemical compounds produced by humans.
The installation was created in collaboration with Helsinki Hacklab.
I used an external power source and Arduino to modify the humidifiers to work as motion sensors. The grass scent was created by chemist Jari Tuominen.
The piece was exhibited at Galleria Huuto, Helsinki in 2018.
